자기소개서 – Introduction

, ,

I need to write more in Korean so I can improve (the words of my first Korean friend ^^) So I am writing about me ^^ here goes and since I don’t know a lot of grammatical endings I used –입니다 form a lot of the time… –입니다 is every where in my Introduction ^^ 미안해요!!

자기소게서 자기소개서

안녕하세요 여러분은

이제 내 자기소개서 시작합니다 ^^

제 이름은 케이 예요.

저는 17살 이예요 그리고 저는 조등학생 입니다.

저는 수영을 가고 싶어요 하지만 이제 너무 추워요!!

I tried to Introduce myself then say what I wanted to go and do!! It did not work out as well as I wanted it to!! So here is what I think went wrong!!

1. It was way too short but really I go nothing else I need to study more to be able to write and express myself more…and right now all I got is -고 싶어요 and –입니다 endings Smile its really not much but I will eventually know more!!

2. Well it kinda looks when you read it like I’m confused….one thing ….then another like I am stuttering when I’m not I just am writing like for example : I want to eat….I want to stand! You understand its like I am talking in breaks so i think that is another flaw in that little writing!

3. I didn’t bother to check with a dictionary or even put it through Google Translate to check if it was correct ….i should have done that!!

4. But other than that considering that it was the first time I wrote anything in Korean without first putting it to Google Translate its ok I guess!! Reasonable you tell me!! Correct it if you can Smile

Linking verbs with conjugation | -고

, , , ,

I just learned this a while ago ^^ so if my sentences are all off and not making sense I am sorry ^^ you can correct them for me and they will make more sense ^^

So before I knew 그리고 and I would always create a long sentence with 그리고 everywhere in it eg: 어제 밥 먹어 그리고 친구를 만나서 그리고 영화 봤어요 but now with my newly learnt skill of just putting –after all verbs the sentence becomes so much easier to write, type and say its cuts time by a significant amount ^^ new sentence would be eg : 어제 밥 먹고 친구를 만나고 영화 봤어요.

어제 밥 먹어 그리고 친구를 만나서 그리고 영화 봤어요

어제 밥 먹고 친구를 만나고 영화 봤어요

A lot shorter isn’t it Smile and cuter to me anyway!! So i think I will be using this 고 a lot more in my Korean sentence making ^^ and I’m really happy about that ^^ now off to learn some new Korean grammar and vocabulary ^^

다음에 봐요!!

Learning Korean Links {Beginner Collection} with added Intermediate/Advanced [Part 1]

, , , , , , ,

I am a Korean beginner learner in 2012 and because of that it’s hard to find some beginner Korean stuff out there unless you look like crazy through Google search results or they are already well known sites like and for me even ttmik took me 4 months after I started learning Korean and in those 4 months I wasted 100$ on Korean Class 101 lessons every month because to me I thought it was the only option to self study Korean then I clicked on Sun Hyun Woo’s website link and I saw a site called Talk To Me In Korean for FREE Korean lessons I was beyond shocked ….and now I am still using Korean Class 101 I have somehow developed an odd loyalty since I learned most of my beginner Korean from their lesson I now just can’t stop paying the membership fee’s and actually on the 6 month of my Korean learning studies I did try and cancel the membership to be honest but I didn’t know how to I just left it alone!! If someone told me how to cancel it I might actually just cancel it once and for all….so back to the point of my links on some Korean learning sites Smile

And here is the list I will as a beginner give a little detail on what the website is but honestly I barely know some of them just have glanced at them!!

So apart from the two sites I’m sure everyone knows about Korean Class 101 and Talk To Me In Korean!! There is the Sogang Korean site and I personally like it because I am a History buff I mean I really like all History but I don’t know much on Korean history but in terms of World War II I could be considered an expert lol!! And the Sogang site actually has a little write up on the Pre Choson Period and all the other dynasties and I like that so I would really look at that one not just for the history but it really starts you off with the general history of Korean and the culture of the Korean’s and all that stuff Smile

Click Korean is one I think I have been playing around on for the past 4 hours just sitting there reading!! Click Korean has the lesson and with the lesson the vocabulary spoken in the lesson as well as expressions and reading practice, culture and all sorts!! And another think I love about both the sites above is that I love learning about new culture it interests me a lot so I love that all these Korean learning sites offer this little part about Korean culture it just makes me so happy!!

http://sukunc.blog.me/ this blog is a Naver blog and I would not call it beginner but I came across it on Twitter @studyingkorean and I can easily read most of the posts even though they are in Korean {really to me it seems like a sign I’m getting better at my Korean and that makes me sooo happy but I know I have years to go before I can say I know Korean} and the posts are really informative like conjugation rules and the irregularities that some verb stems have and its really helpful, I would definitely check it out!!

Berkley Language Korean this site I used often in my first month of learning Korean because I didn’t know much else about Korean learning sites online and honestly I am not the most Internet savvy person in the world I actually suck big time in that department but after learning Hangul in a day I found this site and I used a dictionary to translate the words and set phrases {I never liked Google Translate even when I started last year it just seemed unreliable to me!} But honestly I think this site is a great starter site I owe a lot to this site in my month before going on to KClass101 Smile I got my knowledge of 안녕하세요 from this site Smile

KoreanChamp I actually found this site on Monday this week and and I like it it’s really cool I like the levels that they have and I personally loved one of their posts on Taeyang of Big Bangs song called “나만 바라봐 “ that to me sealed the deal of me liking that website it gave the English and Korean of the lyrics and I know you thinking “But all lyric sites do that…don’t they” they do but here it was like different I could understand it more than lyrics I’m serious!! Try the site out its really cool!!

And I have more but this is getting a bit long I think isn’t it Smile I think so, so I will put a part two of this post rather than fall asleep with it!! But before I put a full stop to this I have one more link that I think is really fun and it helps me a lot when I want to study Korean but its a Sunday and honestly I just want to veg out on the sofa and do …nothing!! And everyone has those days but then if you don’t do what you know you should have been doing you will feel guilty so that’s where reading this site comes in handy Smile

SBS’s Radio site {here} and although it is not beginner I still listen to the  Fun Fun show because even though in the entire radio show of 40 minutes I only understand 5 minutes it helps in listening to the accent  its better than listening to K-Pop because when people sing its not the same as speech so I find it a really useful link {here} and bonus the radio show is in Podcast form just click the link and there you can download all episodes of the Radio show and listen in your own time its cool isn’t it Smile

Full stop!! 끝!!

About SharedTalk and MyLanguageExchange !!

, ,

Okay!! So a few hours ago I was just surfing the net and I thought of looking up a language exchange I mean I know of Talk To Me In Korean’s Ning community but I just thought that its a world full of all different kinds of language learners so there is definitely another language exchange site out there and I found one that seems to be a bit popular the Rosetta Stone’s Shared Talk site you can have voice chat and text chat you can send other members messages and it’s really cool!!

And another one I tried is called My Language Exchange but I have not really looked at it I will do all that later ……now I gotta get back to getting that NoteK-Pop songNote I chose to translate translated!! Urgh!! Its not as easy as I thought but I will not give up on it Smile But my personal opinion is that Shared Talk is actually a really good site, and if anyone reading this knows of any other language exchange sites please tell me!! I would appreciate it sooo much!!

Korean Study Plan | One Month Study Plan

I like organization =) I like to keep an order I can follow so before I even get to an About Me page I am now going to create a study plan for myself 🙂 and a study plan is more like a schedule of what different types of study I will be doing on what days…so I don’t get confused and frustrated and ultimately give up on the whole notion of Korean self study 🙂

So here goes my study plan =) this is just for the next month …so that means I will review it and change either the whole thing or just a few aspects of the already in place plan 🙂

On Monday’s because it is the beginning of a new week I don’t really have time to do much it’s always just so hectic I will limit my Monday Korean study to just four things that must be accomplished and built upon in a blog post 🙂

  • So the first of the four things is learn 5 new words {the five words will increase as my ability to remember Korean words increases}
  • Write 5 simple sentences in Korean using the 5 words I learnt
  • If you can {and this is a bit of a pipe dream} translate at least two short tweets that were originally written in Korean 🙂
  • Begin translating a Korean song that will be my song of the week {Translation and Breakdown of Korean lyrics in to English}

On Tuesday’s guess what I only start school at 11 so for a few more hours in my morning I can study Korean that whole morning since I am an early bird 🙂 I wake up before the birds I think LOL!!

  • I have come across Naver and Daum {seems that they are seriously popular in Korea} and with that came webtoon’s and I love these webtoon’s that’s why I am going to  use them as study tools 🙂 so first point of call on a Tuesday morning is go veg out and read 만화 on Daum and Naver for 1 whole hour jotting down all notes about super confusing words and believe me I have come across some crazy words 🙂
  • Listen to Korean learning podcasts and write down ALL words so I don’t forget them {actually I’m going to make a Word List page @ the top so I have a reference to my learnt words}
  • Listen to K-Pop {yeah that’s an excuse to do nothing}
  • Check out Advanced Korean article of the day {I’m not advanced but it’s still healthy and informative to read the article and see the words ….evreything helps}
  • Watch a short YouTube episode of 짝 {I know I really don’t get much of what they are saying but the subtitles in Korean are if I may say so myself 대박} no cooler way to get words and laugh for no reason 🙂

Oh I don’t like Wednesday’s….really I hate ’em I have too much going on with after school activities on Wednesday’s…things I don’t even want to do like Karate class 😦 what a drag!! But what must be done must me done 🙂

  • Since I don’t like Wednesday’s very much on a Wednesday where this blog and Korean study is concerned …a Wednesday no longer exists 🙂 on a Wednesday I will scour the Internet for random post on learning Korean and write about that 🙂 because I’m too lazy busy to do anything else 🙂 So enjoy my long post of nothing !!!
  • Oh!! And did I forget listen to K-Pop what’s a day without listening to K-Pop for study purposes of cause!! That’s a LIE LOL!!

Well after having gone to bed like a bird on Wednesday on Thursday I will have more energy 🙂 that’s code for I’m gonna be hyper because I slept too much 🙂 But hey if I’m hyper I have the energy for almost anything now don’t I?

  • Because on Wednesday I did nothing and lounged around my house like a lazy slob tired and exhausted person 🙂 I have to make up for that and read Korean anywhere I can find it 🙂 no excuses ….
  • Listen to more Korean learning podcasts {ooh!! this is getting repetitive lol}
  • Learn 7 words on Korean-Flashcards {7 the number of perfection yay!!}
  • Ohh!! That’s too much to do lol!! Going to bed now !! But no let me squeeze in some Korean culture lesson 🙂 from the KCLASS 101 culture lessons 🙂 learning a languages culture is key to understanding it better 🙂

Yay!! Its Friday cool thing for me is that I never sleep on a Friday night ever its been my thing to stay up till 4 in the morning since I was 11 years old 🙂 and I now always do it so on a Friday I can’t even begin to make a schedule for a Friday night because its a FREE night I can just either study Korean or I can stare at myself in the mirror if I wanted too!! But I won’t 🙂 So on Friday I choose what I want to do…:)

{Unique} Korean Introduction

Learning Korean is nothing new with the Hallyu Wave and everything now with K-Pop taking over the world!! The Korean language to me is {Unique} its creation is like no other language in the world. I have always had a desire to learn Korean since I have been watching K-Drama’s for years =) my laziness lack of time has been preventing me from learning it but now I am in my last year of school =) and I finally have enough time to study Korean and I was very excited when I finally could say to myself “You have enough time to learn Korean now!! You go for it girl :)”

And now I have a Korean learning blog/ or log =) whichever one sounds better 🙂
